How long the drive up from Denver and DIA really takes
If you are flying in or driving up from the Front Range, here is the drive. From Fraser, Denver is 71.5 miles, about 1 hour 31 minutes. Denver International Airport is about 95 miles, about 1 hour 57 minutes. Those are map estimates, not promises, so give yourself a little room. The road in comes over Berthoud Pass on US 40.
Here is how that drive looked to start this week. On Monday morning, September 14, CDOT reported US 40 dry both over the pass and through the valley, with no crashes or closures on our route, and the Weather Service had no alerts out for either one. The catch is the sky. The forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day Monday through Friday, with highs of 68 to 71 and lows of 34 to 39, right around a typical September here.
The weekend looks friendlier. Saturday is forecast mostly sunny and Sunday sunny, each with a chance of afternoon storms, and both nights mostly clear with lows around 32. That is good firepit weather if you pack real layers. And if you are driving up to ride, Trestle Bike Park lifts run daily, 10am to 5pm, through September 27, so September 19 and 20 and September 26 and 27 are the last two weekends of the season.
