Two more weekends of full-throttle summer
Trestle Bike Park is running daily, with 71 of 75 trails and all 4 lifts open when we checked this weekend. Friday and Saturday evenings ride late, until 6:30, through September 5. After Labor Day the resort's summer activities drop back to Friday through Sunday, and the last date on its published summer schedule is September 27. If you want a full-length bike weekend, this one and Labor Day are what is left.
Labor Day itself is worth planning around. Granby Ranch runs its Rocky Mountain Music Series all day on September 5, and Winter Park closes the weekend with a block party and sidewalk sales at Cooper Creek Way on September 6. The week after, the Winter Park Film Festival takes over Fraser, September 10 through 13.
Heading into Rocky Mountain National Park? Trail Ridge Road is open to through travel, and timed-entry reservations are still required from 9am to 2pm, every day through October 12. One more thing worth knowing before you pack: campfires are banned parkwide under Stage 2 fire restrictions, charcoal included, so it is a camp stove trip this year.
